Underpass under A361

It's absolutely ridiculous that the only way to gain access to or from Edmund Park without a helicopter is via the bleak Castiel Road, how this site ever got developed without the insistence of other cycling/walking links to Frome is open to conjecture. That said, the Friends of the River Frome carried out a comprehensive feasibility study into providing a Pedestrian River Crossing to join up with Caxton Road way back in 2019 that might help Edmund Park residents to escape their entrapment occasionally. I think this should go ahead along with the route through the cattle tunnel under the bypass to run parallel with bypass along it's embankment (or a slightly widened version of it) to link up with the NCR 24 towards Longleat and connect the very expensively installed cycle paths that currently guide any visiting cyclists leaving Frome to the wonders of Asda or should they dare venture further East, on to confront traffic head on at the railway bridge.

It will not be used by a lot of people on cycles. Our main routes out of Frome to the south will remain Feltham Lane, Little Keyford Lane (to Tytherington) and Vinney Lane (to Tytherington). Also the land by the river is in the floodplain and should not be tarmaced - and it will flood and the surface deteriorate as well as outrageously expensive. More important and realistic is to have a 40mph all along the bypass with speed cameras and warning signs at each crossing point - this includes the three I have mentioned as well as where public footpaths cross the bypass.
