Traffic calming measures needed

Sue Everett•1 month ago Why the 20mph speed limit was introduced with no traffic calming is a mystery. Look at loads of places in France which have chicanes, speed tables, paved roadways. Let's have them here as well. Then it won't be possible to speed. Just out of town Alexandra road has multiple speed tables. It can be done.

Stop through traffic

Sue Everett•1 month ago Using bollards or similar, stop most traffic from accessing this road which is a rat run to car parks or people looking for a free place to park near M&S. It is mad that this has not been closed off ages ago.

Dangerous to cross

Sue Everett•1 month ago Regular crossing point for people on cycles and some walkers. Whole bypass needs 40mph limit, signs warning of pedestrican/cycle crossing and enforcement cameras.

Unsafe crossing point

Sue Everett•1 month ago Public footpath used here to cross the bypass. Increasingly difficult due to traffic increase/speed. Whole bypass needs to be 40mph, speed cameras, pedestrian and cycle warning signs. Nothing less will do.

Deter through traffic

Sue Everett•1 month ago Use traffic calming (speed tables for instance) and paving to deter through traffic. The town is still used as a rat run and too much non essential traffic uses this route. Worth going to France to see how they do it well there for towns of a similar size - even small villages do it better. 20mph zone is useless with no change in road design.
