Traffic lights

From "Interactive map: add your concerns and ideas"

Go to the project

The traffic on Portway is getting heavier and heavier - and these traffic lights are often activated for no apparent reason - ie no cars or pedestrians coming out onto Portway. With traffic lights at the Locks Hill junction and at New Road with no coordination between them this is now causing frequent long traffic jams. Is there a way to make them more synchronised with the other traffic lights / Reducing how long they stay red for? All these vehicles sat around putting out exhaust fumes is increasing the air pollution.

Agreed. The timing of the lights with the junction at Great Western Street appears to be out of all kilter with demand, and lean very heavily in favour of the much more occasional traffic from Great Western Street, this, coupled with the fact that the Wallbridge lights sometimes appear to default to red without any traffic waiting on Great Western Street can be very frustrating.
