Proper crossing at the junction of Wesley Slopes and Keyford

From "Interactive map: add your concerns and ideas"

Go to the project

This is a wide crossing on a busy road, frequented by fast/stupid drivers.

This is a very busy route into town for families with small children going to one of the local primaries, or groups of larger kids on their way to Frome College and bus stops in town. Currently, there is a small traffic island, which is wholly inadequate, and can barely fit a pram.

For some inexplicable reason, it seems to be a popular spot for meatheads in shoddy motors to lean into the corner as they head off towards the Butts or turn left into Keyford (more often than not, without using an indicator).

Also, many impatient people approaching the junction from Christchurch East and wanting to turn RIGHT towards town cannot be bothered to wait, so they go in the left lane, then do a u-turn in the Keyford junction and turn right from there, often as swiftly as possible to 'beat' the queue they've just tried to bypass.

A big, platform crossing, some railings around the corners, and traffic calming here would be much safer.

This problem is only going to get worse with the proposed development on the south side of Frome (traffic is already off the scale round Frome because of all the recent development).

Do it before someone gets killed please.

Wholly agree with this. 20mph needs to be extended along here with traffic calming up to the Zebra crossing on the Butts.
