I'd like to see more emphasis on engaging with residents and particularly young people to work at a hyper local area to improve their own immediate environment. Local mapping of species, and creating hedgehog corridors etc, can help everyone become part of the solution

Absolutely agree. There is a drastic shortage of work experience placements for young people. The nature recovery plan depends upon the perception that many aspects of infrastructure and societal behaviour that may appear disconnected from it are unchanging. Direct action is critical, but currently offers few realistic employment opportunities so there is a systemic disconnection that must be addressed if the plan is to succeed. The most obvious signs of this are litter, dog waste, graffiti and vandalism. Nurturing care and consideration within the mindset of local residents and young people who currently feel excluded from any consideration is going to require much more direct action than the plan currently contains.
