Widen the Narrow Pavements on North Parade

From "Interactive map: add your concerns and ideas"

Go to the project

On the right hand side heading up North Parade the pavement is much too narrow for safe use by pedestrians.

I suggest that the pavement is widened along its entire length from the bottom of North Parade from the point where it is already widened. There is also scope to widen the pavement on the other side too, to match the kerb alignments in the town centre.

The effect of this work would be three-fold: it would improve pedestrian safety; help encourage residents to walk into town instead of driving; and finally create a narrowed road that is a known method of creating a psychological effect on drivers to reduce their speed.
