Improving river access

I'd love to see an new almost river level board walk created liver in the bank for a stretch of the river. That would allow people to connect with the river in a way they aren't able to at all. I can imagine in the summer people sitting in the edge dangling their feet off the edge and into the cool water. Planting more trees along the banks above like willows would help shade out brambles the always grow there and would make the river truly spectacular.
It would improve access to the river, look stunning and improve biodiversity with appropriate planting.

I really love this idea. Cutting
G into the bank to make the pathway would deal with the problem for the canoe club and I don’t believe the river levels would change much unless there is a flood. Of course, all this depends on the water companies cleaning up their act so we don’t sit and watch a dead river with excrement floating around. Fingers crossed!

Wouldn't a walkway like this get damaged by higher river levels after prolonged heavy rainfall? The level fluctuates a lot so how would it survive realistically? It could cost a fortune to maintain and repair year in, year out.

@Tracey Chedzoy that stretch of the river doesn't change that much actually because of the weir, you can make the board walk out of very hardy materials liked recycled composite which mimics wood but would last 30 years plus.

I like but we can't reduce the rive width as the canoe club could not use the river, happy it cut into bank.

@ANDREW BELL that's what I really had in mind so the front of the path was level with the edge of the river so it gave the illusion of it being across the river without it actually being so. Just the Ai did a shoddy job of interpreting my vision. Glad you did a better job 😉
