Gorehedge roundabout

From "Interactive map: add your concerns and ideas"

Go to the project

Cars regularly go through the roundabout at the top of Bath Street and turn onto Christchurch Street by the Cornerhouse pub. They rarely indicate. This means that pedestrians trying to cross the road have to make a guess as to whether cars are going to turn or not. This is particularly dangerous for older people

This mini roundabout is an accident waiting to happen every day. Not clear for cars how to negotiate it. People hesitate, wait then suddenly go when they get brave. Maybe build a solid circular structure/statue in the middle so everyone has to go round in single file with clear priority to traffic from right and then no-one can dash across the middle.

I'm sure this mini-roundabout can't comply with current design standards. It is impossible for a car turning right from Christchurch Street West onto Wesley Slope or onto Christchurch Street East to use the roundabout properly without the majority of the vehicle driving on or over the white circle. I don't know how you'd fix this, but the flare on the entry to Christchurch Street East should be reduced to slow traffic proceeding East. Reducing the flared entry to Christchurch Street East would also make it safer for pedestrians to cross.
