I think it would be great to see shipping container food area. It would be fantastic for big events as well as increasing the options for Frome's ever increasing diverse Frome scene. It would tie in with Frome's industrial heritage and if done well could look fantastic and add a really vibrant cultural hub which would be a destination in itself.

Great idea, Wapping Warf in Bristol is a fantastic place to go and enjoy a range of different cuisines whilst also giving space to local artists and shops. Care would have to be made to make sure that adequate dining areas were established and the space not overloaded with too many containers.

It's not a bad idea but I'd echo other comments about the impact to existing eateries. Guildford tried a similar concept called The Village - shipping containers, eateries, bars and an ice rink. It cost the council £1.2m and was shut after 12 months as no one turned up. That being said, with a bit more effort to make it look nice this might work - maybe it can be versatile enough to set up for temporary arts exhibitions or workshops as well as food. If it goes ahead, my request is for a sushi bar.

@Mark Brenchley I think as long as the design is thought about carefully people will come. Needs good food, good atmosphere and accessible for all. People still want to eat out as long as food is good.

Great idea. I think redeveloped the area between the cheese and grain and the river. Have the café repositioned waterside with other eateries as well as a bike hire and canoe hire place to utilise the cycle path and river.

There are quite a few existing food venders in town that may be effected by a street food market. I like the idea of a ‘Makers’ or ‘Creative’ hub, tapping into the great repair, repurposing, crafts and arts scene we have in Frome. It could have a gallery, teaching space etc and work in conjunction with either the C&G markets or the Black Swan Arts.

@Richard Swann I actually don't think there's that many food places on Frome and I think the more you have the more Frome will be thought of as a food destination, somewhere to travel to and then see what takes your fancy. I don't think it would detract from existing eateries I think it would enhance them. People outside of Frome may travel here just like I travel to Bath or Bruton because there's a number of options.

Fabulous idea. We need to encourage people back into the Town Centre and this would be fantastic.
