Dangerous crossing of A36

The country lane linking Rode and Beckington is intersected by the A36 at this point. As the A36 is fast and straight at this point it is extremely dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists to cross, given the speeds of on-coming vehicles. The lack of a crossing at this point (despite footpaths on both sides leading up to the A36) acts as a significant deterrent for pedestrians and cyclists moving between the two villages. The attached image shows the crossing point (the red line traces the route from the footpath on the Rode side of the A36 to the point the footpath re-starts on the Beckington side).
